Washinglines

In this piece I wanted to carry out a massive intervention in a public space: one that would radically open up the potential of the architecture. I wanted to bring the human presence to the forefront of an otherwise impersonal and corporate environment. I sought donations of clothing from people who actually use the space on a daily basis. These signifiers of the personal and domestic were then imposed directly into the architecture. The result is a joyful celebration and transformation of colour, texture, form and meaning on an epic scale in an almost violent and surreal juxtaposition.
